Sandra is a new security guard at a shopping center, as she meets bus driver Javier on her daily commute. This encounter triggers a multitude of experiences characterized by longing, care and self-determination more for the viewer than for herself, who seems to have been clear about things for a long time. Being a woman, single mother, worker, and lover, none of these roles is less important than the other, and this is demonstrated by the routine that is sensitively and meticulously described in the story. La Piel en Primavera uses non-professional actors and portrays a type of realism that seems simple, but is actually quite difficult to accomplish, while still presenting powerful and poetic images. The film proposes that friendship among women and the recognition of the female body are also parts of the honest definition of what it means to be a woman. This authentic and refreshing Yennifer´s Uribe debut feature speaks of feminine nature regarding affection as well as desire in terms of care and self-determination. Furthermore, the way that the film looks at and defines women is not limited to a certain social condition or a geographical location. The film is careful not to emphasize these aspects; instead, it aims for a universality that allows it to reach a wide audience and express a more effective and powerful message.
