The disability Daniel was born with that limits his motor functions has never been able to be diagnosed. His childhood doctors were never able to reach a scientific explanation about the illness that has changed his life, not even now that the filmmaker is trying to find answers. This illness has affected his childhood friends, his school, his graduation, the holidays, etc. Through meticulous footage recorded by his uncle and father on Super 8 and VHS, and through new images and recordings, Daniel reviews his life trying to find answers about his illness and his own identity. Would his life have been the same if he had been born in a poor, black family? Or what if he were homosexual? Too often, how we see ourselves limits our vision of who we are or who we can become.
