In Montes de María, one of the regions of Colombia most affected by the war over the last two decades, Sara, Neyda, Tomasa and many other women were bereaved of their husbands and children… Alone, holding out in a land they knew theirs or that they returned to and now till, despite the scars they still have dreams. They support one another, learn from one another, exorcise their demons with theater and the arts, determined to paint the future the bright color the past stole from them. A choir of voices that recalls with strong, unwavering words, “There were so many burials we didn’t have time to mourn our dead.” Sara, Neyda, Tomasa and so many—too many—others, all courageous women who have dared raise their voices and demand that history never repeat itself.
