With her daughter María and her younger son Fabio, Amparo arrives to a town on an island in the Colombian Amazon along the Brazilian border. After the disappearance of her husband and one of her daughters, she has been displaced by the war. While they struggle to adapt to their new life, María finds her father hiding in the same house where they are seeking refuge, but he asks her to keep the secret. Amidst the exuberant Amazon, the striking location of settlements along the river and talk of the armed conflict as part of everyday conversations, Los silencios is a moving story about the toll war takes on the human soul, the strength you need to continue, the secrets that we keep, and the reproaches we silence. Sometimes you have to keep the memory of those you loved alive, and those who loved us, in order to keep go on.
