García Barcha, son of Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, studied Medieval History at Harvard University. Hebegan his career as a camera operator and director of photography and has directed the feature films Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her (2000), Ten Tiny Love Stories (2002), Nine Lives (2005), Mother and Child (2009) and Albert Nobbs(2011), among others, as well as episodes of television series like The Sopranos,In Treatment and Six Feet Under.
