XI Film Review
and Journalism Workshop

What is the difference between a film a critic and another spectator? What is the role of criticism in the development of national cinema? What is the relationship between the critic and the local industry? Does the critic have a responsibility? What is the relationship between criticism and objectivity? Since last year, FICCI has held the Film Criticism and Journalism Workshop as part of its academic program after nine years of efforts from the Colombian Ministry of Culture through Encuentros Cartagena. For FICCI, it is vitally important to understand criticism as one of the main means of strengthening this rapidly growing industry, one that proposes new perspectives and dynamics for filmmaking.

Over the course of four days, ten Colombian students will reflect on the questions listed above, guided by the Argentine critic and journalist Diego Lerer.
